The Costa del Sol. Southern Spain. General Information.
The Costa del Sol is the Europe's favourite holiday destinations. It is often to say that the province of Malaga is a small continent.
From Nerja to Sotogrande, trough Mijas Costa, Marbella, Estepona, Manilva and Puerto la Duquesa, the Mediterranean coast is characterized by its special microclimate created by the mountains that follow the Coast from one end to the other.
Costa del Sol. Sun and Beaches
There is approximatively 160 kilometres of coastline mostly beach. These beaches are excellent, cleaned everyday and with all the services: bars, restaurants, beach umbrellas, beach beds, showers, children's park, lifeguard services and much more.
If you prefer to lie on an empty beach with nobody around, you have that too, because there are also some small coves.
Golf Holidays. Costa del Golf
Golf is THE sport on the Costa del Sol. It has more than 40 clubs, most in the western Costa del Sol area, making this the area with the highest concentration of golf courses in all Europe. For more details please visit Costa del Golf page
Costa del Sol. Sports and Fun
Apart from golf, we have Costa del Sol PADI diving courses,tennis, badminton, paddle and squash as the most common ball games played in this area. The Costa del Sol is home of paddle tennis, in that it was introduced to Europe by Prince Alfonso de Hohenhole, and the first paddle court on the continent was built on the Costa del Sol.
Mountain climbing, rock climbing and hang-gliding. With an abundance of high mountain peaks, the most important area in the region for these sports has become the Abdalajis Valley
Potholing. This sport has found a home in this part of Spain, with many deep potholes in the province of Malaga.
Rambling, cycling and horse back trekking. Each municipality has its own routes and information can be obtained from local tourism offices
Horse riding. It is also a very popular sport on the Costa del Sol. There are many places with riding stables and wonderful riding routes trough mountains and forest regions.
There are two complexes on the Costa del Sol: the Equestrian School of the Costa del Sol in Estepona and the Costa del Sol hippodrome in Mijas.
